Why buy a hair treatment that hardly contains its featured ingredient when you can use it straight from the source? Sure it’s not in a pretty bottle. But I am sure you can find one. DIY treatments tend to be more effective and customizable, as you can control all of the ingredients going into your mix. No chemicals, no fillers.
I bought these ingredients from a local spice store but you can also find them online. I store my dried herbs in Mason jars out of sunlight.
I mix equal parts of each in a clean glass jar and cover with filtered water the night before I want to use it. The next day I strain the herbs and place the rinse into a clean bottle. After shampooing, I squeeze out the excess water from my hair, then pour over the rinse and let it sit for a few minutes. I follow up with conditioner. You can do a rinse as often as you would like, but depending on how often you wash your hair that may be tedious. I try to do a rinse once a week/ two weeks since I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week.
