An argument for dancing the silence.
“The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between”
–Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
It is not the dances in which I moved the most that I remember the best. It is the moments that movement was not necessary that remain the most beautiful in my mind.
When we stop moving, we cannot hide behind the movement. Dancing slowly reveals everything. It shows quiet strength. When we have nothing but our quiet breath to offer to our partner we become incredibly aware of this other being.
In between the ganchos and the enrosques, ask yourself, are you taking care of your partner? Is he or she comfortable? Happy?
