Stop Consuming, Start Doing.

Don’t confuse the pursuit of inspiration with getting things done.

There is so much content to consume. Facebook. Instagram. YouTube. Podcasts. Blogs. *cough* With a plethora of information at our fingertips, it’s possible to get sucked into a several hour binge of inspirational lectures.

We may feel motivated, albeit only for a little while. We feel like we can do anything we set our minds to. But that feeling soon wears off and then we start the cycle again. We start another inspirational podcast, by someone accomplishing great things, that tells us that we can do it all if we really want to.

We feel motivated again. The satisfaction of doing something has been completed. However, we haven’t actually done the thing we wanted to actually do. We just spent several hours scrolling through, listening to, or watching someone else’s work.

I hold my inspirational scrolling time in high regard. However I am constantly monitoring myself that I am not 6 videos deep from my original search, watching a bunny rescue video. But hey, everyone needs a good cry now and again.

My point is not to chastise, but rather raise the question, how are you spending your most precious resource- your time?
